History
LaSalle Multicultural Resource Center (LMRC) is a non-profit charitable organization founded in 2004 and driven by community grass-root issues. LMRC is driven by volunteerism, each volunteer and staff continue to impact the lives of vulnerable people in our community. Some of our services and administrative operations occur in different locations in close proximity due to limited space; LMRC’s future objective is to amalgamate these operations under one location. Membership is, always open to anyone who shares the goals and objectives of LMRC.
The growing mental health challenges instigated the expansion of the organization’s vision to enhance community wellness through the provision of humility, diverse culturally appropriate counselling, prevention and awareness forum. LMRC is especially concerned about the research showing that the wellbeing of racialized Black communities is affected by anti-Black racism, systemic discrimination, and a lack of access to culturally appropriate health care services. To this end, LMRC will continually increase its programming to help bring awareness and meaningful change to critical oppressive structures, while partnering with different organizations to reduce the service gap affecting historically underserved communities.
While LMRC provides services to the English sector of Lasalle Montreal, LMRC ensures that all people regardless of language, culture, ethnicity, gender, religion who knocks on the door for help will never be turned away. Thus, services are accessible and free to everyone who needs it.
